JACKPOT INCREASES TO ESTIMATED $140 MILLION FOR SATURDAY’S DRAWING
For the first time, Virginia Lottery players had the chance to try their hand at Powerball – and the Commonwealth produced 13,517 winning tickets worth $100,286 in prizes in the February 3 drawing. Of those winning tickets, two won $10,000 and 56 won $100.
The winning numbers in the February 3 drawing were 17-22-36-37-52, Powerball was 24, and Power Play was 2X. Of the winning tickets in Virginia, 5,449 had the Power Play option, which increases the prize amount for winning tickets. Players who added Power Play won an additional $22,990 by doubling their prizes.
Since there was no jackpot winner, the jackpot for the Saturday, February 6 drawing grows to an estimated $140 million. As with all Virginia Lottery games, every Powerball ticket bought in Virginia helps raise funds for K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. Powerball drawings are broadcast on TV stations across Virginia and live on www.valottery.com. For more information on Powerball, visit www.powerball.com.
Nearly 95 cents of each dollar spent on the Virginia Lottery by players goes back to the Commonwealth in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retailer commissions. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $4 billion for Virginia’s public schools. The latest annual profits of $439.1 million currently represent about 7 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia. In 21 years, the Lottery has sold more than $21.1 billion in tickets, awarded more than $1.1 billion in retailer commissions and paid more than $11.6 billion in prizes to players.
